This is a Prosthetic Eye! During my residency I learned how to design and modify prosthetic eye shells.

These are created to fit into an eye socket after an eye has been removed (enucleated) or has lost vision with the prosthetic fitting over the non-seeing eye.

These are made not only to help with improving the overall look of the patient but to keep the eye socket intact.

After removal of an eye, the surrounding tissues tend to contract over time causing the area around the eye to look sunken. Having a prosthetic helps keep the eye socket open and intact.

A patient can keep the prosthetic in full-time, even overnight, and take out only to clean and replace.
