 Dr. Monica Bell

Dr. Monica Bell, born and raised in Calgary, attended the University of Alberta for her Bachelor of Science before graduating with honours from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry, in Ontario.

 

At the Waterloo School of Optometry, Monica was an active participant in student associations, including maintaining the role as president of the Lion’s Club, Social Affairs Director for the Canadian Association of Optometry Students and a general member in both the Low Vision Interest Group and the Sports Vision Club.

 

During her education, she completed an ocular disease and therapeutics externship in Baltimore, Maryland as well as internships in primary care as well as vision therapy both at the University of Waterloo and at private practices in Calgary. She has also had the opportunity to be involved in vision screenings for athletes in the Special Olympics in Baltimore and Thunder Bay.

 

Dr. Bell is passionate about helping others and has participated in several volunteer eye care missions in countries such as Romania, Mexico, Thailand and Jamaica. She carries on her passion for philanthropy by continuing to participate in volunteer optometric trips and organizing fundraisers within the community.

 

Outside of optometry, Monica loves to stay active with regular fitness, enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Monica Bell
Optometrist Dr. Nikki Umscheid

 Dr. Nikki 

Umscheid

Nikki is originally from High River, Alberta. She attended Pacific University where she obtained her Doctor of Optometry in May of 2012. Nikki is a member of the Alberta Association of Optometrists, Calgary Optometric Society and Canadian Association of Optometrists.

She has clinical experience in a variety of settings, including a surgical / disease centre in Arizona, a primary care clinic at the Luke Air Force Base, and a medical based group practice in Oregon.

Nikki is the proud mom of three young boys who keep her busy, but in her spare time, she enjoys fitness and travelling.

Dr Nikki Umscheid

 Dr. Sunaina Sond

Sunaina has had the opportunity to live in many different countries including India, UAE (Dubai) and the United States, but is proud to call Canada her home now. She completed her undergraduate degree at Rutgers University in New Jersey and received her doctor of optometry degree from Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas. 

 

During optometry school, she completed her rotations at various clinics including Eye Centers of South Florida, and Gimbel Eye Centre in Edmonton, which gave her a strong foundation for managing different ocular conditions.

 

Upon graduation, Sunaina had the opportunity to practice in several types of clinical settings, helping all types of patients, from kids to those with significant disease! Her true passion lies in family care optometry, where you get a mix of all types of patients, and for that reason finds Eyes 360 a perfect fit. 

 

Sunaina keeps busy with her two young boys and enjoys travelling with her family.

Optometrist Dr. Damon Umscheid

 Dr. Damon 

Umscheid

Damon grew up on a farm just east of Milo, Alberta where he spent most of his time playing hockey, including a few years on the surrounding High River teams.

He attended the University of Calgary for his undergrad and then headed to Pacific University in Oregon for his Doctor of Optometry. He has clinical experience in many offices, including a surgical / disease centre in Arizona and the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego with specialized training in contact lenses, pediatrics, vision therapy, and sports vision.

Damon was a welcome addition to our team in July 2010. Damon is a member of the Alberta Association of Optometrists, Alberta College of Optometrists, and the Canadian Optometrists Association.

 Dr. Ranbir

Sond

Ranbir, born and raised in Calgary, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alberta with a double major in Chemistry and Biology. He then attended optometry school in San Antonio, Texas.

Ranbir’s externships throughout optometry school provided him with an opportunity to serve patients of all ages and demographics. The experience he gained during rotations at Eye Centers of South Florida and Gimbel Eye Centre allowed Ranbir to effectively manage various ocular conditions such as Glaucoma, AMD, and Diabetic Retinopathy.

He now lives near Bragg Creek and in his free time enjoys spending time outdoors and travelling.
